1. To speak with or visit patients who do not have anyone else to talk with during visiting times or at other times as agreed with the ward.
2. To liaise with patients on the wards and other areas to discuss any issues they might have concerning their hospital treatment, whether positive or negative.
3. To log any issues from inpatients, as they arise with sufficient detail so that the issues can be investigated by the Volunteer Service Administrator and/or passed to a PALS adviser for action.
Times of volunteering are flexible and there are no set number of hours required.
4. To be available for occasional duties accompanying vulnerable patients to specific appointments.
5. To be willing to take notes at these appointments, with the permission of the patient.
6. To answer any general queries from nursing and other staff about the befriending scheme.
7. To identify and take part in relevant training and development courses.
8. To attend and contribute to supervision sessions.
9. Other duties as required by the Volunteer Contact by agreement with the worker.
10. To help patients out feedback questionnaires (such as the Friends and Family Test)
