Keen (University Of York Students Union Student Action)

Offers sports and activities for children with learning difficulties and special needs, aged 3-11, (and their siblings), to give the children the opportunity to combine play and exercise in a way which is fun and increases confidence. Activities include stretches, races, gentle sports and 'ice-breaker' games, with the new addition of paralympic equipment such as bowls and kurling, the children are sure to find something to enjoy. Run by university volunteers during university term time. Students will work on a one to one basis with the children, and encourage interaction with peers to enhance social and communication skills. We also organise an annual trip out, previous trips have included visits to Eureka, Danelaw Living History Centre, Creepy Crawlies all subsidised by the organisation. Our room can be accessed by wheelchairs - however, notice of wheelchair access would need to be told prior to the session in order to plan the activities
