Download Vocational Qualifications factsheet

Level 2 courses are available at colleges and some school sixth forms.

  • Entry requirements vary, but you are likely to need a foundation learning qualification or some GCSEs (grades D–E). Please check individual course requirements for full details.
  • Most courses are vocational, and take a year to complete.
  • Vocational areas available include: construction, art and design, animal management and motor vehicle.

Hints and tips

  • The colleges offer taster days in addition to open days/evenings. These are a great way to try out what the courses involve.
  • As most of these courses are vocational, it’s important to think about what career areas interest you and to research the courses carefully.
  • If you want to re-sit Maths or English GCSE to improve your grade, it may be possible to do this while taking a level 2 course.
