York Family Mediation Service

Westfield Ward, York

Description

We are an independent charitable organisation, which works with people at any stage of divorce and separation who are having difficulty coming to agreement over arrangements for the future once the family has split up. This includes helping couples make decisions concerning the children, finance and property. It is not our intention to persuade people to stay together.
Mediation is a good way of resolving difficulties as it saves time and money, and it is in the interests of the children that their future lives are arranged as amicably as possible.
We are situated in an office in a terrace house, so we have easy access and a downstairs interview room.
Fees (including VAT): We operate a sliding scale of fees starting at £72 per hour and rising to £114 per hour. If you are unemployed or on a low income, you may qualify for Legal Aid which will cover the cost for your mediation. The mediator will assess your eligibility for Legal Aid at your introductory meeting.
The service caters for children from birth to older people who are separating.
